The pure Sicula bee is a little more nervous, but not aggressive. We could ascertain up to the autumn, that this race till now is very robust and also rather successful with the nectar search in our area. Bees and brood show good vitality. The instrumental insemination of the F1 was not easy, because the virgin queens are very small. As a result of the two matings with Buckfast we hope the strong swarm tendency to have already reduced something. In addition we will control the colonies so well as possible and evaluate, whether these perhaps can live better with Varroa jacobsoni. The queen excluder was given as a precaution to the original mother and her F1 daughters into the ground of the hives.
