The nature of the PACSIM model and the reasons for considering it in the framework of pollution assessment are first discussed. We then consider the particular pollutant emission models used and discuss their scope and parameters, as well as the availability of the latter within PACSIM. We conclude the paper by illustrating the use of the combined traffic/pollution model in the context of a speed enforcement policy within selected urban neighbourhood zones.
